Working from home for the last year has reminded me that comfort is truly everything. I’ve purchased enough leggings to get me through a few weeks without doing laundry. (Not sure if I should be admitting that!) I’m all about comfort and quality of fabric.
The number one spot hands down goes to the Aerie real me high waisted leggings. They are buttery soft and hold up so well in the wash. No pilling or shrinking and they can’t be beat for the price. I often confuse them with my Lululemon align leggings while folding laundry.
Soma leggings are also a great investment but I prefer to snag them on sale. They are a little bit lighter weight than the Aerie legging which makes them feel softer. The waistband is a banded piece of elastic that does not lose shape or stretch in the wash. They are the perfect lounging leggings and are nice enough to wear with booties and a cute top.
The Spanx leggings are going to be a higher price point but worth every penny. They are a thicker, more pant light material with a thick waistband that sucks you in but remains comfortable. It’s like they were made to be dressier and are the perfect business casual look. The pleather leggings from Spanx do not disappointment and they do not melt or flake like other brands tend to do.
Last but not least we have the Lululemon align leggings. These are truly the softest leggings wash after wash. They are technically a yoga legging but I’ve ran in them and they hold their shape and do not show sweat. I would say they do have minimal compression but I don’t like feeling squeezed to death. My only complaint is they do tend to pill in the crotch area if you do not wash them inside out. Once adjusting my laundry habits, I’ve found there is no pilling and they still look brand new 20 washes in.
